Careful practices are a requirement when dealing with complex systems such as weapons, satellites and rockets. A failure in these systems could easily have dramatic effect. Similarly, automobiles are complicated systems with electronic functions and complex interactions, and transport signaling is now a complex command chain completely monitored by computers. None of these systems can afford to fail.

In order to thoroughly handle these complex systems, you have to manage huge volumes of data of varying origin (e.g., contracts, project items, mechanical items, sub-systems, software, electronic cards) while keeping in sight the global objective of the projected system. The management of these systems has grown so complex that the implementation of management tools that track data (or configuration data), has become compulsory.

With Lascom ICS, configuration management is seen as a global process. In this context Lascom ICS is a backbone tool that organized the technical information and also tracks technical events, software and hardware configurations.
